New Partnership Brings Obedience Training—and Healing—to Shelter Dogs and People

The Dyersburg-Dyer County Humane Society is proud to partner with Full of Sit Animal Training Center in Millington, TN, to launch a transformative 6-week obedience training program for select shelter dogs.

Each participating dog will receive personalized training in basic commands to increase their chances of adoption and successful integration into a forever home. But the impact doesn’t stop there—trainers and assistants will be recruited from local rehabilitation centers, offering individuals in recovery from substance use and mental health challenges an opportunity to build skills, confidence, and purpose.

This unique initiative is partially funded by the Dyer County Opioid Abatement Grant, ensuring support for both human and animal rehabilitation in our community.
